(WJLA) - Police say speed was a factor in a serious two-car crash that killed a Covenant Life School student and seriously injured four teenagers.
Investigators say a 1996 Honda Accord and a 2004 Chrysler Sebring were both headed northbound on Muncaster Mill Road Friday around 2:20 p.m. As the two lanes began to merge, the cars collided. The Honda struck a utility pole and the Chrysler left the roadway, striking two pedestrians on the sidewalk, and a tree.
One of the pedestrians, Teressa Rosalind French, 16, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The second pedestrian, Emma Grace Lowe, 13, was admitted in critical condition. Both were students at Covenant Life School.
The drivers of the vehicles along with one occupant were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All occupants in the vehicles attend Magruder High School.
The driver of the Chrysler is identified as Hugo Fernando Da Silv Rompante, 17. Two passengers in the Chrysler are identified as Johnny Allen Boykin, Jr., 19, and Keanu Ashton Lee, 17.
The driver of the Honda is identified as Oscar Javier Fuentes, 17.
The accident is being investigated and no charges have been placed at this time.
