An opening Sunday date in the Big Easy, a Thanksgiving date with their enemies from Dallas and a Monday night match-up with the defending Super Bowl champions are among the highlights of the Washington Redskins' 2012 schedule, which was released Tuesday.
The NFL released the schedule for all 32 teams on Tuesday night, and the Redskins will begin the 2012 season at the Superdome to take on the Saints on Sept. 9.
Two weeks later, the Redskins will open their home season at FedEx Field by hosting the Cincinnati Bengals.
Other than the team's Turkey Day trip to Dallas, they will host their arch-rivals during Week 17 on Dec. 30. It will be the first time the Redskins play on Thanksgiving since 2002.
Their two match-ups with the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants fall on Oct. 21 in the Big Apple and at home on Dec. 3 on Monday Night Football.
A rare regular season match-up between the Redskins and geographic rival Baltimore will also come in Landover on Dec. 9.
Washington is looking to get back on track after another losing season. The team went 5-11 in 2011, then traded up to get the 2nd overall pick in the NFL Draft, which begins on April 26. The Redskins are widely expected to select Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III out of Baylor.
