Redskins fever is growing with just days until the team hosts the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs.
The Redskins' playoff push also played a special role in a Montgomery County couple's engagement. Travis Funkhouser's creative proposal is getting a lot of attention on the internet.
It all took place on New Year's Eve at a small party with friends and family. Laura Begosh opened a gift and found a Redskins jersey inside.
The words "Marry Me" were written on the back of the #1 jersey.
"I was so overwhelmed in that moment...I just...I knew that Travis and I were going to get engaged....but I had no idea he would do it on New Year's with our friends and my Dad...I had so many feelings at once," Begosh said.
Turns out Funkhouser had been planning the big surprise for months.
Travis explained, "I was a nervous wreck...in the two weeks leading up to it because I had told her Dad...her Mom and the more people you tell...the greater chance someone is going to spill the beans..."
The two are huge Redskins fans.
"I wanted to do something to combine my extreme love of the Redskins," Funkhouser said.
Begosh added, "It was amazing....the most unique experience..."
"This is the best season I can remember in a long, long time. We're in the playoffs; we beat Dallas. What more can you ask for...except for a gorgeous ring...gorgeous girlfriend...," Funkhouser continued.
They plan to get married within a year.
Don't be surprised if they find a way to work a Redskins theme into the celebration.
