The road to the World Series has made its way back to Washington, D.C. The Nationals are back in town and preparing for Wednesday's Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
A special baseball playoff bunting, not seen in D.C. in a lifetime, was properly placed at Nationals Park Tuesday, as was the postseason paint on the field. The Nationals also took in several hours of batting practice in preparation for the District's first home postseason game since 1933.
Fans hoping for seats to Wednesday's game left the box office disappointed. Right now, only standing room tickets are available, and that's only if you return to the stadium Wednesday morning.
"The atmosphere is going to be awesome," Nationals fan Matt Newman said. I can't wait! Standing room only; I don't care. I just want to be in the stadium for it."
However, some fans are a little upset by the game's start time of 1:05 p.m., prompting some to make alternate plans or even arrange to call in "sick."
Fans and players aren't the only ones preparing for the game. Metro is planning to run eight additional trains for the game.
