A day after beating the Pittsburgh Penguins in their second-round playoff series, it's now known when the Capitals' next playoff series will take place.

The NHL released Tuesday the full playoff schedule for its Eastern Conference finals series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Game 1 of the best-of-seven series will take place Friday at 8 p.m. at Amalie Arena in Tampa.

Along with Game 1, the Lightning will host Game 2 and, if necessary, Game 5 and Game 7; the Capitals will host Game 3 and Game 4, along with Game 6 if necessary.

For the Capitals, the series marks the third time they have met the Lightning in the playoffs, with the previous two meetings occurring in 2003 and 2011. The Lightning eliminated the Capitals in both series.

The Capitals also will be making their third Eastern Conference Finals appearance in franchise history, including the first time since the 1997-98 season when they reached the Stanley Cup Finals.

To reach this point in the playoffs, the Capitals beat the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round, followed by the Penguins in the second round. Both series were won in six games.

The Lightning has beaten the New Jersey Devils and Boston Bruins in their first two playoff round series. They are making their third Eastern Conference Finals appearance in the last four years.
