Toyota Team Player: Luis Ronaldo Vilca
FALLS CHURCH, Va. —
Doctors told senior midfielder Luis Ronaldo Vilca he may not be able to play soccer at Falls Church high school again after he was a victim of a shooting in Lima, Peru last summer.
"I just got shot," Vilca said as he remembered that day. "I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock".
Vilca had to wait 16 hours before he was treated at the hospital in Lima.
Doctors said they couldn't safely remove the bullet because there was a chance they could hit a nerve that would have caused Vilca to be paralyzed forever.
That bullet will now be a part of the 18-year-old forever.
Vilca was told it would be years before he could play soccer again, but three months later he was on the filed in October participating in team work outs.
The senior is excited to help his Falls Church team try to win a championship this season.
