Toyota Team Player: Jelani Williams

Out for the season, words Sidwell Friends senior Jelani Williams did not want to hear.

"I jumped to catch a pass, when I came down, my knee buckled and gave out on me," Jelani Williams said.

Williams, a 6-foot-5 guard who is committed to play at Penn next year will have to cheer his team on from the sideline after he tore his ACL during practice the day after Christmas.

"It was devastating, he said. "I was in disbelief".

There is a silver lining to this story, Jelani is grateful to be headed to an Ivy League school on a full ride.

Jelani is scheduled to undergo knee surgery Friday. He hopes to be back on the court in about six months.

In the meantime, he will support his teammates throughout his rehab process.

Congratulations Jelani Williams you are this week’s Toyota Team Player.
