Toyota Team Player: Erik Meyer
When the Washington Valor open up it's inaugural season, the team will be lead by veteran quarterback Erik Meyer.
Meyer brings a wealth of professional experience. He was named Arena Football League MVP in 2013, and has spent time in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders.
"That's a lot of fun when you're the quarterback and put in that leadership role," said Meyer. "It's a lot of fun coming to a new team, meeting new guys - guys from all over the country."
Meyer and wide receiver Mike Washington know each other well from their time playing together with the Spokane Shock.
"It helps a lot," Washington said. "This league is all about timing, rapport and chemistry, so the more you can have of that relationship, the better you can be on the field."
The Valor open the season April 7 at home against the Baltimore Brigade.
"I still got that anxious feeling. that anxious, excited, little bit nervous, little bit of butterflies," Meyer said. " It's fun and just to have that feeling, it's awesome."
