The dream of a Little League Softball World Series title ended for the ladies of McLean Wednesday night.

McLean's Little League stars fell to a team from the Sunnyside Little League in Tucson, Ariz. 9-0 in the Softball World Series championship in Portland.

Sunnyside became the first team from the West region to win the title since 1990, the Arizona Daily Star says. Arizona held a tenuous 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 4th before blowing the game open with a 6-run frame.

Despite the loss, McLean went 5-1 at the annual tournament.

So proud of our girls for such an incredible run. State champs! Southeast champs! 2nd place in the LL World Series! Storybook season! #llsws
