Longtime NBA player Lamar Odom, who has been battling allegations of drug abuse over the past several weeks, was arrested overnight in Southern California on suspicion of DUI.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Odom, a 14-year NBA veteran who played for the Los Angeles Clippers last season, was arrested just before 4 a.m. Pacific time after being spotted driving erratically on a major Los Angeles highway.
Odom displayed "objective signs of intoxication" and failed a series of field sobriety tests after being pulled over, according to a California Highway Patrol report obtained by the Times.
Concern for the 33-year-old Odom has been growing as reports of increasing drug use have come out over the past several days.
Over the past week, many thought Odom had gone missing; it turned out that he was holed up in a Los Angeles-area hotel with friends helping him cope with his alleged drug issues.
