Rising Star: Cassidy Bayer

Turning heads in the pool

At just 17-years-old, West Potomac high school soon to be senior Cassidy Bayer is a world class swimmer.

Last summer, then only 16, Cassidy was the youngest member of the U.S. National Swimming team.

She nearly made the Rio Olympics, placing third in the 200 meter butterfly and finishing fourth in the 100 meter butterfly.

Her Olympic dreams put on hold for now, Cassidy has committed to swim at the University California Berkeley.

As ABC7 sports reporter Scott Abraham shows us Cassidy hasn't even come close to reaching her full potential in the pool and is focused on Tokyo 2020.
