A University of Maryland running back was arrested and charged with second degree assault, stealing and the illegal use of a wiretap, according to SB Nation.
Police arrested sophomore Wes Brown on Wednesday and the school on Friday announced he is suspended.
"We are extremely concerned that one of our student-athletes, Wes Brown, was arrested Wednesday evening," the school said in a statement. "This is a matter that we take very seriously. We have been in contact with the local authorities and will continue to cooperate throughout the entire process."
SB Nation reports that police were searching for Brown and the UMD student allegedly assaulted an officer and then fled. The wiretapping charge stems from Brown allegedly videotaping an officer with his cell phone without the officer knowing.
