A youth football league near Dallas will no longer give out trophies to all participants in the league, KTVT-TV reports.
The league did away with trophies for all of its players this season in an effort to teach the young players that awards are earned for success, not given away to everyone. League champions will still receive trophies, and organizers said they may still award trophies to all participants in the youngest division.
“The biggest thing is we want to teach these kids everything in life isn’t going to be given to them,” the league's football director John Quinones said. “Your boss when you go to work isn’t going to give you a trophy just because you showed up on time.”
