FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WJLA) - Some softball players from Fairfax County are in it to win it. The McLean Little League softball team is set to play for the Little League World Series Championship title Wednesday night.
The girls competed against teams from all across the world and battled their way into the finals. And even though they're playing in Portland, Oregon, the team spirit is as alive as ever here at home.
Friends, grandparents and fans gathered at Rocco's restaurant Tuesday night to cheer the girls on.
"I'm so excited I'm jumping out of my body," said Annette Remer, the pitcher's grandmother.
McLean has won six of the past ten state championships. They won the Little League World Series in 2005.
"It's amazing," said Carolina French, McLean Little League player. "I never thought they would go this far."
Rocco's will hold another watch party Wednesday night. The game starts at 11 p.m. on the east coast.
