Coach of the Week: Boxing coach Barry Hunter
WASHINGTON D.C. —
His coaching style is hard-hitting and so are his values. He's long time boxing trainer Barry Hunter, the man behind local two-time world champion Lamont Peterson. Hunter also trains Lamont's brother Anthony. He often takes time to reflect on how far he two have come because he was there from the start.
"To know exactly where these young men came from, to be able to make a difference and have an impact on their lives means the world to me, "says Hunter.
For Hunter training isn't just a profession but a purpose. When you're at Barry's gym you're family.
"God put me here for a purpose and a lot of times people don't know what their purpose is. Fortunately for me a light came on and this is what I was supposed to have done."
