WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A fight outside a Washington nightclub left high-profile Baltimore Ravens player Jacoby Jones injured, a D.C. police source and media reports say.
Jacoby Jones is the Ravens wide receiver whose 108-yard touchdown in last year's Super Bowl was just as memorable as his fancy footwork in last season's "Dancing with the Stars."
But Jones, the 7-year NFL veteran, was the source of a different kind of headline on Monday, after TMZ brought to light that MPD officers were called to a Northwest nightclub early in the morning.
According to the gossip website, an "adult entertainer" allegedly hit Jones over the head with a bottle of champagne on a party bus outside of Opera Ultra Lounge nightclub towards the end of a high-profile birthday party for teammate Bryant McKinnie.
But despite what TMZ said was an injury that left Jones bleeding profusely from his head, his coach said he saw him today and that he was fine.
MPD officials have confirmed that an officer was flagged down around 3 a.m. Monday morning at 15th and I streets Northwest.
When the officer asked Jones - who was bleeding from the head - what had happened, police report that Jones said he didn't know how he got hurt and he refused to go to the hospital.
With that, the police took a report. There were no arrests and no charges.
No one at the upscale D.C. club would speak on the record and Jones declined to comment. However, a police report filed for the incident makes no reference to a "stripper," but only that witnesses told officers that two suspects left the scene.
"Not very impressed, personally, with the report," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said about the incident. "It's not something we want to be known for. I am disappointed in that respect."
Opera's website confirms that it was hosting a birthday party for McKinnie on the night of the incident.
