Tennessee couple returns McDonald's bag full of cash to restaurant

(WTVF/CNN) - All Greg and Stacye Terry wanted was their usual McDonald's breakfast earlier this week. Instead, they broke the bank - sort of.

The Tennessee couple pulled up to the drive-thru of a McDonald's in Hermitage, Tenn. several days ago and placed their typical order. When the bag came, though, the two couldn't believe their eyes.

Inside their to-go bag was three plastic bags full of cash and change.

"It was a fair amount of money," Stacye said. "I could have done some shopping."

Both the Terry's and the employee who flubbed quickly caught the mistake, and the three were able to catch up with each other very quickly. Stacye and Greg returned the money without thinking twice.

"The second that he said it was their deposit, my first thing was to get in the truck (and) take it back," Greg said. "There's no other way to have it. I couldn't live with myself with that."

They said that when greeted by the employee, she was "visibly upset" and shaking, but no worse for the wear. In a statement, McDonald's officials said they're grateful for the pair's actions.
