WASHINGTON (WJLA) -- The Metropolitan Police Department said late Tuesday that it was seeking six people for questioning in connection with a shooting during a summer night's basketball game that wounded three people in northeast D.C.
Police posted a video of the half-dozen persons of interest on YouTube. The video was taken nearby surveillance cameras. (See above)
Investigators urged anyone who can identify any of the people in the video to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text their tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. Police said anyone providing information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
Witnesses told police they were watching people play basketball at the Harry Thomas Recreation Center in the 1900 block of Lincoln Road, NE on Sunday night when gunfire erupted and the crowd scattered.
The basketball incident was one of three shootings Sunday that resulted in the deaths of three people and four injuries in all.
One of the other incidents Sunday took place just blocks away from the recreation center at North Capitol and T streets NW. Two men were shot dead in a car and another man was wounded. Police have already made an arrest in that case.
The third incident occurred when a man was fatally shot along the 3500 block of 6th Street SE. No arrests have been made or suspects identified in that case.
