Florida school bus beating video: Driver criticized for not stepping in
The driver of a school bus in Pinellas County, Fla. may face neglect charges after he did not physically intervene while a group of teenagers savagely beat a classmate last month.
According to WFLA, John Moody said all he could do was contact his superiors via radio when the beating, which was entirely caught on camera, began.
"Get somebody out here quick, quick quick they're about to beat this boy to death," Moody is heard saying. "There's nothing I can do...please send somebody."
A policy implemented by the county's school system dictates that a driver only has to step into a situation if they think it's safe.
Officials say that one of the teens tried to sell the victim drugs earlier in the day on school property.
