DEWEY BEACH, Del. (AP/ ABC7) - The man who was being sought by Delaware State Police in the murder of a woman at a Dewey Beach motel Monday was found dead in New Jersey, police say.

Delaware State Police had obtained a warrant for the arrest of Pawan Kumar, 26, who they say is the man pictured in surveillance video released late Monday night. He was wanted in connection with the suspected murder of a woman inside a room at the Atlantic Oceanside Motel.

However, the Essex County (N.J.) Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday that Kumar had been found dead inside a motel room in Belleville, N.J. on Tuesday. Belleville is more than 200 miles north of Dewey Beach.

Investigators on Tuesday identified the victim as 26-year-old Danielle Mehlman of Bensalem, Pa.

Police combed the scene, but they didn't find any identification on the woman. Motel staffers said the woman did not rent the room.

However, officer did discover surveillance footage of a person of interest, who is now identified as Kumar. Police say he is facing charges of 1st-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon.

Joanne Hite is staying in the room right above the apparent crime scene.

"Oh that's him. Yes, that's him," Hite said.

Other guests at the motel said they saw the man with a woman Sunday.

If you recognize the man, call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
