Newt Gingrich is getting sued for playing Frankie Sullivan's "Eye of the Tiger" at rallies. According to the complaint, Newt has violated the copyright by using the song in unauthorized public performances and distribution.

Gingrich has been using the song to pump up the crowd since 2009 but had yet to license it, according to the Washington Post.

Rude Music Inc, the company which holds the copyright is suing for damages, defendant's profits, and attorney fees.

Mitt Romney was also issued a complaint for using the same song but Romney stopped using it after the complaint.

This is not the first time a politician has been sued for using a popular song. Tom Petty sent a cease-and-desist letter to Michelle Bachmann for using "American Girl". Jackson Browne filed a lawsuit against Senator John McCain for using "Running on Empty."

The Gingrich campaign has yet to comment.
