Marion Barry vies to be a delegate to DNC, critics oppose his selection
D.C. Councilmember Marion Barry wants to be one of the District's 14 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
But some say he's not an appropriate representative to send because of his conduct at the 2008 convention.
Voting to select the delegates took place today at UDC, but the count was taking so long they had to move to a Logan Circle church to complete the count.
In Thursday's Georgetown Dish, Chuck Thies, a political consultant, urged Democrats not to vote for Barry, calling him a "walking public relations disaster."
Talking with ABC7 Saturday, Barry dismissed the criticisms.
