Kissing what? Peaking Now & Tout-It-Out!

Alright, if that line doesn’t grab your attention, it’s going to be tough Tuesday.

It’s just one of many barbs thrown at ‘The Donald’ by GOP contender Jon Huntsman. Huntsman is often described in conservative circles as the one candidate that voters should give another glance. His resume, demeanor and intellect would indicate he can and should compete with anyone in the field but just can’t catch on with voters nationwide. Despite his lagging poll numbers though, he says he refuses to pay homage to the man who’s now best known for barking “You’re fired!” at his reality show contestants and celebrities then seeing fleeing Trump Tower with roller bags behind them.

The majority of GOP contenders have held audience with the man and his curious coif, including new frontrunner Newt Gingrich.

See my report from Monday night:

But what almost appears obligatory to some, is allegedly repulsive to Huntsman. Among the man zingers from the former Utah governor regarding these meet-n-greets:

“I’m not going to kiss his ring and I’m not going to kiss any other part of his anatomy.”

“I don’t like to see the dumbing down of American politics. I mean, the presidency of the United States is beyond realty show quality.”

So when CNN asked if it’s true he called multiple times to seek Trump’s favor.

“It’s just pure B.S.”

To which Trump said Huntsman can’t lie because he’s a Mormon.

“That doesn’t even deserve a response,” Huntsman laughed.

Meanwhile, the “Don” is finding out that while some of the candidates would love his endorsement, they sure don’t want his grilling.
Trump is scheduled to be a moderator at the Dec. 27th Newsmax debate in Iowa.

That’s right, the one-time pseudo candidate, one-time “birther”, all-the-time celebrity is going to be peppering potential presidents with questions about the economy and more.

Then again, that’s if they show.

So far, only one (Newt Gingrich) has committed to attend.

This morning, Michele Bachmann was asked directly if she’ll be on the dais.

“That’s a good question,” she couched. “I actually like Donald trump.”
But hedged a bit: “It comes right before the Iowa caucuses so we have to figure it out.”

Is it Iowa timing that concerns the candidates, or uncertainty/fear over the possible tone. Nobody wants to be caught up in an argument with the deniably louder voice of Donald Trump only to be “fired” if they don’t provide the response the real-estate mogul is looking for.

If location is everything in real estate, timing is everything in politics and nobody knows that more than Newt Gingrich.

We’re just four weeks out from the Iowa caucuses and Gingrich is hitting his stride at the perfect time.
Look at this newest round of results from today’s ABCNews/Washington Post poll among likely caucus goers.

Gingrich: 33%
Romney: 18%
Paul: 18%

Impressive and growing? Yes. Sustainable? That’s the question.

The number that may mean most in this poll: More than 6 in 10 potential caucus-goers say they may still change their minds.

This mock up from the wonderfully-talented Dave Sykes is a humorous alternative to the more formal TCT graphic look. It wasn’t meant to see the light of day but since appearing on the boss’ wall, plenty suggest it should be the true look for my column. Agree? Email/Tweet/FB me back or…..
