(WJLA) - The ongoing government shutdown has held up business, commerce, legislation and paychecks. Now, it's holding up dinosaurs.
The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History announced Friday that the travel and delivery of a rare Tyrannosaurus red fossil, meaning that arrival celebrations for the dinosaur bones have been canceled.
The Wankel T. rex fossil specimen was scheduled to arrive in time for National Fossil Day on Oct. 16. Due to the shutdown, though, that shipment has been delayed.
Each of the Smithsonian museums remains closed while the federal shutdown continues.
