Big Bird: Mitt Romney provides unintended buzz during debate

Remember Big Bird?

Of course you do, especially given the events of the past couple of days.

The iconic yellow character on “Sesame Street” suddenly has become a talking point and social-media trend since Wednesday night’s Presidential debate, during which GOP candidate Mitt Romney brought up Big Bird (and PBS){ }when trying to cite potential budget cuts he would make.

“I love Big Bird,” he said, “but I’m not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for.”

Let the social and satirical outrage begin.

From Twitter to the late-night talk shows to on and on and on, Big Bird is on a roll.

So last night on CNN, failed GOP candidate Rick Santorum decided to add his thoughts on the matter.

"I've voted to kill Big Bird in the past, so, I have a record there that I have to disclose," he said half-jokingly. "That doesn't mean I don’t like Big Bird. I mean, you can kill things and still like them, maybe to eat them, I don’t know."

All-righty then.
