It seemed like you just couldn't escape the political ads on TV during this election cycle. During every break, there they were. The finger-pointing. The negativity. Over and over again.
It wasn't just the noise heard on TV and radio. Mailboxes were also stuffed with political fliers.
One place that voters sounded off was online on social media sites like twitter and Facebook. Some say it even broke up friendships.
Online, you soon learned what your 'friends' really thought about each candidate. And, at times, the comments between so called 'friends' could get ugly.
According to the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics, some $6 billion is estimated to have been spent on just election ads.
"There's been a whole lot of BS," says Silver Spring resident Joseph Branch. "I'm just happy that the campaign is over."
