The DREAM Act; Ads spark outcry; Walter Smith
Today on NewsTalk: Should students who grow up in Maryland qualify for in-state tuition – even if they came to this country illegally? That’s the question voters are being asked to decide on Nov. 6. Our first guests, Delegates Anne Kaiser (D-Montgomery) and Kathy Afzali (R-Frederick), disagree about the DREAM Act. Their debate runs two segments.
We also talked about those controversial new ads now appearing in four Metro stations. We were joined by Mudusar Raza, head of the Maryland chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
In our last segment, DC Appleseed’s Walter Smith talked about budget autonomy, the future of UDC and CareFirst’s use of its surplus.
