Delta flight goes viral after pilot flies directly into Hurricane Irma
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) —
Delta flight 431 went viral Wednesday when its pilot flew the Boeing -- full of passengers -- into the arms of Hurricane Irma.
The Boeing 737 was headed from New York’s JFK to San Juan Puerto Rico when Category 5 Irma crossed its path.
Rather than turn back or skirt out of the way, the pilot steered the aircraft directly into the storm.
Flightradar24, a Twitter account that tracks live air traffic, posted the plane's journey to social media.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the plane took off again less than an hour after it landed.
