ASPEN, Colo. (AP/WJLA) - Airport video shows a private jet that crashed in Aspen earlier this month briefly touching down before launching back up and then crashing down, bursting into flames.
The grainy video, released Wednesday, is from five infrared cameras at the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport.
Co-pilot Sergio Carranza Brabata was killed in the Jan. 5 crash. Another crew member and a pilot who was a passenger were injured. All were from Mexico.
Investigators have previously said the Canadair CL-600 briefly hit the runway while making its second landing attempt. A preliminary National Transportation Safety Board report issued last week said there were wind gusts up to 25 knots at the time.
The video was first obtained by Aspenjournalism.org, a local, nonprofit news organization.
