San Jose State: Building reopened after report of man with gun

A building at San Jose State University was placed on lockdown Thursday morning as police searched for a reported man with a gun. After a thorough search revealed nothing, the building has reopened.

Police received a report of a white man wearing all black and carrying a handgun inside Sweeney Hall around 9 a.m. There were no reports of injuries.

Students, staff and faculty were quickly alerted to lock themselves inside their classrooms. The rest of the campus remained open.

Per UPD 10:55am: A thorough search of Sweeney Hall did not reveal anything. Sweeney Hall is open for business. Resume normal activity. #SJSU

San Jose State is located in San Jose, Calif. According to the university's website, Sweeney Hall houses the College of Education.
