(WJLA) - A record number of children - and children at heart - tracked Santa Claus this year.
NORAD says that it took 117,371 calls from kids looking for Old St. Nick this past Christmas eve, a 3 percent increase from 2012.
What more, the Santa Tracker website (noradsanta.org) logged 19.58 million unique visitors from almost every country in the world.
"Throughout the year the men and women of NORAD work hard to provide aerospace security for North America, but for this one night every year, we are able to help bring the magic of Christmas to children around the world," Navy. Capt. Jeff Davis said in a statement.
More than 1,200 NORAD staffers and volunteers, including First Lady Michelle Obama, manned the phones this year.
