According to WFOR-TV in Miami, 20-year-old Kayla Mendoza tweeted that she was "2 drunk 2 care" at 12:03 a.m. on Nov. 17. Less than two hours later, Mendoza was traveling east in the westbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway when she struck a vehicle carrying Kaitlyn Nicole Ferrante and Marisa Catronio. Ferrante died four days later of her injuries and Catronio died on impact.
Mendoza, the wrong-way driver, describes herself on her twitter account as a "pot princess," and her user name is @highimkaila. Her previous tweets make frequent references to drug use.
