TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Lawyers for the father of a man who was fatally shot under questioning about ties to a Boston marathon bombing suspect say he was recovering from a knee injury and it would have been difficult for him to attack officers.
Ibragim Todashev was killed in May while being questioned by FBI agents and police from Massachusetts and Florida at his Orlando apartment. Officials originally said the Chechen man lunged at an agent with a knife.
They later said it was no longer clear what happened. An investigation is being led by the FBI.
The lawyers said Tuesday that they understand an FBI agent fatally shot Todashev.
An FBI spokesman didn't immediately respond to an email.
At Tuesday's news conference, Abdulbaki Todashev teared up talking about his son. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Abdulbaki claimed that his son was "executed" by FBI agents.
