(WJLA) - The McRib is back, making fans of the McDonald's sandwich worldwide sing its praises anew.

A photo posted to Reddit by user DJDanaK, though, is causing many folks to turn their eyes - and their stomachs - away from the cult sandwich favorite.

According to ABC News, the photo of what appears to be a discolored frozen beef patty that resembles a small rack of ribs has gone viral.

McDonald's officials told ABC that the "legendary" McRib is formed in the shape of traditional ribs and flash freeze the patty, which is made of pork shoulder.

"Just like a burger patty is formed to be round and flat, we form the iconic McRib in the shape of traditional ribs. We then flash freeze the patty to seal in flavor and freshness," McDonald's officials said in a statement to ABC News.
