Football coach, librarian stabbed more than 70 times; former lover arrested
D'kota Chance Griffin, of Lineville, is charged with the murder of Michael Collins and is being held without bond at the St. Clair County Jail.
Collins' body was stabbed over 70 times, according to Assistant Sheriff Billy Murray.
At his first court appearance, Griffin was granted a combined $510,000 bond for charges of murder and theft of property. Will next appear in court Sept. 20th.
Collins body was found in his home Monday afternoon. "To me he was more valuable than any coach on my staff," said St. Clair County head football coach Matt Glover.
A vigil was held Tuesday night to remember and honor the librarian and coach at St. Clair County High School.
At a news conference, authorities say Griffin and Michael Collins had a brief, romantic relationship.
