Consulate in Libya denied security request before deadly attack: ABC News

A new e-mail is revealing that a request for increased security at the United States consulate in Libya was denied ahead of the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

ABC News obtained the internal State Department e-mail that showed the department denied the request from the security team at the consulate in Benghazi, for a DC-3 airplane, which they said was necessary to better carry out their duties. Stevens, who was killed in a Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the embassy, was copied on the e-mail.

It is not yet understood how important the DC-3 would have been to securing the area for the September 11 attack, ABC News reported.
