A two-year-old boy in Detroit is being barred from participating in a blessing by church leaders because he was born out of wedlock, the boy's mother told WJBK-TV.
Charity Grace called the staff at Perfection Church in Detroit in order to make arrangements for her son Joshua to be blessed with a group of children two years old and younger. She was told that it was the policy of the church's pastor not to bless the children of unwed mothers in front of the congregation.
"I've never felt so degraded and disrespected in my life," Grace said.
"I absolutely would not set foot back in the church right now because I feel like they look down upon me and my kind, meaning single moms and unwed mothers. The church should be the last place you should go to be judged and denied," she added.
