Drones flying in the areas of Texas affected by Harvey are causing serious problems for rescue pilots, according to authorities.

The Texas Military Department says that civilian drones have been spotted flying around places damaged by the storm, causing "extreme risks to our rescue pilots and crews in high need areas."

Harvey has damaged buildings, caused power outages and led to "historic" flooding, according to the National Weather Service. Two people have been confirmed dead, at least 14 people were injured and authorities say they have received thousands of calls for help as residents continue to try and evacuate.

Federal Aviation Administration released statements on the issue on social media.
