All-clear issued following reports of armed person on TCU campus

(MGN)

FORT WORTH, Texas (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Texas Christian University issued an all-clear Tuesday morning nearly an hour after an armed person had been reported on the Fort Worth campus.

A tweet from the school at 7:16 a.m. Central time advised those on campus to immediately seek shelter.

Students were told to shelter in place until an all-clear was given.

According to TCU 360, Fort Worth police said the alert was prompted by a road rage incident between two Roadrunner Shuttle drivers. One driver reportedly shot at another, who was not injured, before fleeing.

At 8:01 a.m., TCU tweeted that the lockdown remained in effect. Those on campus were advised to look for a black male wearing black pants and a white shirt, driving shuttle No. 24171.

Fort Worth police said at 8:47 a.m. a suspect was in custody.

During a press conference, police said the campus was placed on lockdown out of an "over-abundance" of caution and stressed that no one on campus was injured.

TCU said all classes beginning after noon would be held as scheduled.

Tuesday's incident comes less than 48 hours after a gunman killed 26 people and wounded about 20 others in a Sutherland Springs, Texas, Baptist church.
