A paralyzed dog left to die on the side of the road in Tehran, Iran, has been brought to the U.S. and is in need of a good home.
Omid, who lived alone, fending for himself for several years, was left to die with a broken back on the side of the road in Tehran.
The fact that he survived for so long without care has earned Omid the name "Miracle Dog." Omid now uses a device like a wheelchair to get around.
A couple in Tehran rescued Omid and brought him to VAFA, one of Iran's only dog shelters.
"If we didn't rescue this dog, he'd be dead," said Sheyda Ardalan, one of Vafa's volunteers.
Ardalan started a social media campaign aimed at bringing Omid to the U.S.
A photo of Omid on Facebook caught the eye of a local woman visiting Iran. The woman flew with Omid to Dulles International Airport two weeks ago.
For now, Omid is still getting acquainted with his new surroundings and adjusting to life off the streets in foster care.
