World War II Memorial holds V-J Day ceremony

WASHINGTON (AP) - The National Park Service and the Friends of the National World War II Memorial held a ceremony to commemorate the 67th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall.

Retired Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace will help mark the 67th anniversary of V-J Day on Sunday. A program began at 9 a.m. at the World War II Memorial.

The U.S. Marine Corps Brass Quintet performed, and the memorial hosted a wreath-laying ceremony.

The day marks the anniversary of the Allies' victory over Japan during World War II.
