An arrest has been made in the Friday morning murder of an 18-year-old Takoma Park woman.
Alexander D. Buckley, 21, of Northwest was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Siohban Nicole Lee.
Lee was near the intersection of 5th and Nicholson streets NW just before 3:30 a.m. Friday when she was shot in the head, MPD officials say.
"I just cried. I didn't know how to feel," Lee's friend, Christine Friday, said.
Friday heard what happened to her friend in the middle of the school day.
"As soon as I heard shot to head, I thought it's the wrong person," Friday added.
Lee recently graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. Affectionately called "Bon Bon", Lee was the apple of her grandmother's eye.
"She was just my granddaughter, my grandbaby," Linda Lee lamented.
Lee's friends spent the day sharing condolences online and posting their favorite photographs.
Friends told ABC7 Lee lived in Takoma Park with her grandmother and worked at Starbucks and Giant. They didn't know why she'd be at a bus stop in Northwest at 3:30 in the morning, which is about the time police went door-to-door looking for her killer.
Neighbor Miki Fernandez said, "We are really upset. You don't expect this to happen right at your doorstep."
