Police have arrested two men in connection with the sexual assault and robbery of a 50-year-old woman last week in Fairfax County.

Rivelino Villegas-Posada, 34, and Jubencio Castro, 24, are both charged with rape and aggravated malicious wounding.

An investigation and crime scene evidence led police to the suspects, who, they say, struck the victim with a blunt object and sexually assaulted her behind a building in the 2400 block of Gallows Road at about 1 a.m. The suspects also took cash from the victim before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

Police say the blunt object was{ }possibly a brick or a rock.

The pastor from the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, which oversees the school, believes that a homeless woman who stayed in a hypothermia shelter operated by the church may be the victim.

Todd Schlechty pastors the Vine Church right near where the crime occurred. He says the churches provide services to the homeless and police told him the victim was a homeless woman who he says from time to time slept on the front steps of the school.

“It's tragic that someone would do harm to someone who is doing no harm in the community,” he says.

Maude Hales is the administrator of the Holy Cross church. She says she and the staff were horrified when they arrived to find a crime scene.

“It's a terrible situation and we are very sad that it has happened and it's happened here at the church,” Hales says.

Police say after the attack the woman ran out on to Gallows Road and flagged down a passing car for help.

Rose Saldana lives across the street.

“I am really shocked. I advise everyone close your doors,” Saldana says. “This is an area with three churches and it's really quiet.”
