HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Police say they suspect a hit-and-run driver may have been involved after a woman's body was found in the median of a main thoroughfare in Hagerstown, Md.
The Herald-Mail reports that police were called around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday after someone found the body in the median of U.S. 40. The site is in a commercial stretch of the road called the Dual Highway.
Police say they have no information about the vehicle that apparently hit the woman or how long her body was on the median.
Maryland State Police said they will try to reconstruct the incident.
The woman's body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. Police say they expect to release her name later Tuesday.
