Woman medevaced after multi-vehicle head-on crash on Chesapeake Bay Bridge; traffic backed up for miles

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJLA) - A woman was medevaced to a trauma center after a multi-vehicle head-on crash on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Saturday morning.

At about 12:20, the accident had traffic backed up for more than five miles both eastbound and westbound, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported.

All westbound lanes were closed and only one lane was open Eastbound. The MDTA reported later that both Eastbound lanes were open.

At about 10:55 a.m. Anne Arundel County Fire Department crews were dispatched to the westbound span of the bridge.

The 45-year-old woman suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, AAFD reports. Two other people had minor injuries.
