Woman killed, husband wounded in shooting at Va. mom-and-pop store
CLOVER HILL, Va. (AP) - Police are searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of her husband at a mom-and-pop store in Rockingham County.
Rockingham County police tell media outlets that the shooting occurred Saturday night at the Dry River Store 7 miles west of Harrisonburg in Clover Hill.
Police say surveillance video shows a man entering the store and shooting the store's owner and his wife with a handgun. The suspect then fled on foot.
The woman died at the scene. Her husband was taken to an area hospital. His condition wasn't immediately available.
Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson says investigators believe robbery was the motive.
