An SUV crashed into a house with a family sleeping inside, leaving a 60-year-old woman buried under debris in Upper Marlboro early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened just before 1:00 a.m. in the 11300 block of Bennington Drive. ABC7's Sam Sweeney reports that the driver was impaired and crashed into the wall of the home where the woman was sleeping on the other side in the living room. The SUV was stopped by a couch and police say the woman was seriously injured.

SUV was driving on Kettering Drive when it reportedly lost control and missed two trees before slamming into the house.

The woman was taken to the hospital and was treated before being released.

The driver was arrested on the scene. Police have not announced charges at this time.

The SUV has been removed from the house but the family is currently out of their home.
