Winter Storm: Virginia power and road crews prepare

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WJLA) - More than 12,000 plows and salt trucks will fan Virginia Wednesday in preparation for a major winter storm.

Trucks will begin plowing once there is about two inches of snow on the roads. They hope to have most major roadways clear within 48 hours of the last snowfall. VDOT is urging people to stay off the roads during the storm.

Dominion Power crews say their trucks are gassed up, staged and ready for the snow. They expect major outages as wet, heavy snow could bring down trees and power lines. They urge people to notify them as soon as they lose power.
