(WJLA) - If you're eagerly anticipating the opening of the Metro Silver Line, here's a way you can skip all the way to the front of the line to ride it.

Metro announced Wednesday that it will run a contest to randomly select 10 winners to be a part of the very first ride of the Silver Line train.

"Each winner and a guest will receive reserved seating at the opening event, a ride on the first train, and an unlimited Metrorail one-day pass for travel to and from the inaugural activities," Metro's announcement indicated.

Lynn Bowersox, Metro's assistant general manager, called the contest "an opportunity for Metro to say thank-you to our riders," and said that staff knew there were "many people who have been anxious to be among the first to ride on the Silver Line."

To enter the contest, people should go online and sign up for Metro's free weekly Silver Bulleting e-newsletter.
