William Couch pleads guilty to raping two women in Arlington, Virginia in 1989

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - A man serving life sentences for rape has pleaded guilty to raping two women in Arlington in 1989.

Prosecutors say 53-year-old William Couch pleaded guilty June 12 to abduction with intent to defile and object sexual penetration. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison for each crime.

Authorities say Couch raped and robbed a woman in her home in May 1989, and in September 1989, he raped and choked a woman at her workplace.

Police say cold case detectives reviewed evidence in the crimes and linked Couch to them in January 2013. Couch has been imprisoned since 1992 on three life terms for convictions in three other rape cases.
